It's awesome, really.

The finished result of the gate. Kayla can escape no longer. AHA!

The Kayla Proof Gate

Today is such a beautiful day. Just gorgeous. It’s one of those days where it is warm outside and there is a breeze with the faintest hint that fall is coming. Fall, I shall enjoy it so much. I think our house is built for fall and spring seasons, to have all the windows open with the breeze idling through, our front door open to the porch, and all of the inhabitants wandering through.

This morning, seeing as how I didn’t need to come in to work until 1pm, we got up early and enjoyed the beautiful morning. We went outside with Kayla and finished moving her igloo, as well as washing it off. Played around. Enjoyed the weather.

I played Star Wars on the XBox with Andy. I did pretty well considering that I never play video games. I was learning the controls and destroying droids like crazy. Jasbaz helped, scrambling in and off of my lap.

We were waiting for the mechanic repairman to show up to come haul away our big screen tv. The 52″ that was supposed to be awesome and amazing. And that I thought worked except for the speakers? But… tragically, that was not the case. The screen is terribly fuzzy so you can hardly see what is going on and you definitely can’t hear anything. Such a waste. Hopefully he came shortly after I left. I just want him to take it away!

They specialize in repairing appliances and reselling them – but they can have that TV as far as I’m concerned. Keep it, fix it, sell it for a profit, just get the damned thing out of my house. It’s enormous and a waste of space.

So when I get home, I guess I’ll find out whether it’s still towering in the corner of our living room or if it’s moved on to a new home. My fingers are crossed.

Otherwise the past week or so has just been really awesome… and I never really know how to write when things are going so well. Gloating isn’t any fun and my best writing comes when I complain or can make jokes of things… So perhaps I’ll just post in pictures until there is something amusing or upsetting that happens. You know.

Just, yay.

Rambling about the weekend

Post Secret

I can’t even think of how long it’s been since Andy and I went out on an actual date together. A very long time. But Saturday, by the time Andy got off from work, my brain was about to crack. It was one of those I NEED OUT OF THE HOUSE RIGHT THIS INSTANT PLEASE SOMEONE COME AND WATCH MY DAUGHTER SO I CAN BE SELFISH FOR A HALF HOUR moments. They happen. Not very often, but when they do…

Anyway, Andy finagled his mom into watching darling Jasbaz for two hours so that we could get out of the house and go relax. Go be our age.

Granted, we didn’t do anything spectacular. We went to the grocery store and picked up milk, frozen tatertots (so we can make tatertot casserole later on in the week), and a cookie cake on sale. Then, we dropped off the foodstuffs at home and wandered around downtown.

It was wonderful.

While I love taking care of our little cherub, I need my time to be alone, to be my own person, to not be a parent even if it’s only for a very small period of time. I needed a break. And so did Andy. Emotions wear thin sometimes.

So we wandered around by the river, watching the lights of the city twinkle in the water. Pretty and relaxing. Twas a good time and just what we needed.

Proof? The next day, Sunday, we KILLED the list of things to do. Massacred it. Move the dresser into the basement? Done. Set up a mini library in the basement? Done. Reorganize all the magazines onto the bookshelf? Done. Fold all the laundry? Done. Wash the car and Andy’s brother’s truck? Done. Vacuum out both vehicles? Done. Reorganize the garage? Done. Wash Jasbaz’s car seat? Done. Tackle the dishes? Half-way done.

Seriously. We slaughtered the housework, most of it while Jasbaz was taking her mid day siesta. And we even have a plan to fix the gate to Kayla’s fence — she can wriggle her little body through the space — that will be put into effect tonight, if we can get the supplies.

It’s amazing what two hours can do. =)

OH AND ALSO, I saw the postcard at Post Secret today and found it to be perfect. I love post secret.

Free time is dangerous

I spent a good bit of time yesterday making dolls that represent THE FAM! And I shall unveil them today because why the hell not? And because I have nothing else to talk about at the moment except that things are going REALLY slow at work and I’m bored. Also, slightly craving pepperoni pizza.

But on to the little pixel peoples made using the super sweet Otaku Avatar Maker. Woo!

The Fam

ERINANDYJASBAZ

ERIN! I actually made mine a few years ago (my age is showing, HALP!) which prompted me to make the new two. How cute are these things? I had to share. And make more.

Andy! I made his grumpy because I figured he’d be flummoxed that I made him into a pixel person. Hehe.

Jasbaz! She is just too cute! Ah! And the hair fits her perfectly. That is exactly what she looks like whenever she pulls her hair out of her pony tails. A perfect mess – but somehow still adorable. AND there was a little doggie option so she’s totally hanging on to a miniature Kayla. Although, Kayla is not pint sized like in the pixel. They actually stand at the same height.

Anyone else have some free time? Totally make one! And post a link to it in the comments and I’ll put it up here too. I plan on making a page with little Avatar adventures! =D

It will be fun. I already have a script going and everything.

AHA! (link removed since I lost the page, ack!) – the first of what probably is already too many

Annnd, another Andy who is a bit more happy:
Happy Andy

Super happy war paint

It’s funny how when you don’t go into make up aisles for slightly under a year, just how SCARY and UNLIMITED all the options seem. Yesterday after dinner, I left the Fam to go to spend my $20 Target giftcard. I had it all planned out. I wanted some new eyeliner and a big bar of chocolate.

Then I walked down the first aisle of makeup. It kind of blew my mind because there were SEVERAL makeup aisles and all of them were LONG and full of pictures of beautiful Photoshopped ladies. Intimidated? I think not… okay, maybe.

I ended up going with NYC since that’s the brand I usually buy from although occasionally I pick up some Almay if they are having a sale. Pricey stuff this war paint, pricey stuff. But lucky me, eye liners were on clearance and I ended up picking up three of them for $0.69 each! Yay! So now I can play around with brown, dark brown, seafoam green, and black. Good stuff.

I also picked up a translucent powder for when things get a bit moist on the forehead and nose. And one of those concealer sticks – although I probably won’t use it much. I don’t like actually wearing make up make up, I like my eye liner and tinted lip balm and that’s it.

But still, I’m excited. I was all giddy when I got home and pranced around showing Andy my purchases. He smiled through it all but probably just because I’d gotten myself all worked up and told him how I was slightly frightened while walking through the makeup section and chitter chatter… etcetera until I got distracted by the fact that there was grape juice in the refrigerator.

When all else fails, distract with grape juice. Especially when I get all hyper because I bought MAKEUP and my daydreaming started on how I’m going to look so fabulous and yay this will be fun. Some people need alcohol or maryjane to reach this level of euphoria – I just need a bit of cash, dreams, and a department store.

It probably stems from the fact that when I was younger, I spent all my babysitting money on makeup at the Dollar General and I loved every second of it. I’d look over all the different items available and try to figure out just what I wanted to add to my collection – even though I only really wore my eye liner and lip balm! Still, good times.

Celebrating three years of shenanigans

yay

Hurray for three years of friendship, laughter, misery, and catfights! =D

Not that we catfight often. As it is, we don’t often find willing felines to hurl at each other. Apparently they’ve unionized and want dental benefits.
