I’ve just found out via VTC that my beloved Paint Shop Pro 7 should be compatible with Vista. Please, please let this be so. I’ve been agonizing over picking a new graphics program in our budget. Adobe CS3, it’s just not meant to be. Yet. Maybe once your price drops about $800 or so.
I’ll have to give it a try when I get home.
See, the thing is, for Mothers Day Andy decided to get me a new computer. Right. The man has lost his mind. We spent a good bit of that weekend bickering over why he went out and spent so much MONEY on a GATEWAY when all I really wanted was to go out to Coldstone’s Creamery and indulge in a Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip Waffle Cone. Said indulgence has NOT occurred. Dammit.
That man is programed to try and do the right thing, yet fail miserably. At least he tries, I guess. But still, I lost a lot, A LOT, of brain cells worrying about whether we’d be able to pay all of our bills seeing as how he dropped a grand on a gift for Mothers Day when I’m not even his mother. He was kind enough to put $500 of it on a Best Buy card so now I have a new monthly bill to add into my budget. Thanks.
But on the non-complainy side of life (since everyone I tell about it tells me to SHUTTHEHELLUPATLEASTHEGOTYOUSOMETHINGNICEBECAUSEEVENTUALLYHEWONTANYMORE — or OMGIAMGOINGTOKILLMYMANSINCEALLHEGOTMEWASTHESIMS), the new computer is pretty sweet. I’m excited. It’s got a terabyte of space. 1TB (not tuberculosis). Which should hold about a year of photos what with the way we go clicker-finger crazy. And it came with a flatscreen to replace the MONOLITH of a monitor that I’ve had since… birth? Well, perhaps not that long. But long enough.
My desk has space to breathe! Yay! And this also means, pictures. Yay!
And as a last aside, I would like to suggest to all my photographing friends that you never actually view your work on a powerpoint on a massive projector that you show off to your classmates as a final exam because… they don’t look near as impressive as you thought that they did. I was all hyper about showing off my work and after getting off my pedastal I was kind of like, ‘Eh. So I guess this means I didn’t beat out The Faux Teacher in our photography challenge. Dammit.’

Sorry to burst your bubble about gift-giving, but shutting up and accepting gifts and saying “Thank You” is the best thing in the long run. Grumbling will only get you less gifts. Take it from me.
GM use to sigh – each time her betrothed showered her with a bundle of flowery beauty for whatever adoring holiday came next {leaving her to figure out how to pay the bill} – “They’ll get paid eventually .”
I guess the lesson here is be careful what you complain about before any gift giving season. lol :D
Happy Mothers’ day!
nice pic by they way
A computer is a nice gift to have and not something you would expect to hear someone complain about, however with such an expensive gift that will have a impact on the household budget I would have hoped that Andy would have at least consulted you about it (does defeat the purpose of a surprise)
I would never be able to show my photos especially to other photographers as I am sure mine would never live up to the standards of others.
Does the US not have student prices? With a Student ID I can purchase Adobe Photoshop CS3 for about $250.
