Oozing with love and linkage

Today is one of those really nice Fridays. I’ve got a nice warm mug of tea that is helping to calm my throat, it’s above freezing temperatures outside, and for lunch we are having hot wings. My throat is going to pay for revolting. 3 Mile Island, here I come.

Anyway, I wanted to take this time to send out some love to the interwebs since it is that time of the year and all. And it’s been something that I’ve wanted to do for a while anyway but have been looking for the right time. This one will work perfectly.

I’ve always been very ridiculous about my Surf page, where I house all my bookmarks, and have wanted to share some of my favorite online writers (or bloggers if they want to call themselves that) with everyone. And if you feel like it, please feel free to share some of your favorite sites in the comments with me. I’m always keeping an eye out for interesting people with fun writing to follow along with.

But without further ado, please let me present my list. Much love goes out to those of you aren’t on this list as well, I couldn’t fit everyone or I’d be at it all day and some of you (well one) has a private blog so I can’t tell everyone about how insightful all of your entries are and how they make me think about things in my own life. But you probably know who you are. And if you don’t, you’ll email me to check. ;D

First, I’d like to present Chris Cope who writes Dancing The Polka with Miss El Cajon. I always enjoy reading his rambles about life in Wales and complaints about the weather. Or politics. Either way, his writings always deliver some laughter whether they are intended to or not.

Next we have the ever hilarious Ree of Pioneer Woman who I would love to meet if only so that I could stay in her lodge. She’s been remodeling it and the pictures are stunning. Speaking of pictures, do not visit her cooking section if you are hungry because nothing you bring for lunch will look at all appetizing after you’ve gone through one of her food tutorials. You will crave whatever you’ve read about for days. Especially the desserts. I’ve been tempted to kidnap her and lock her in my kitchen except that the kitchen doesn’t have doors. =( And her kids would probably miss her.

Lady of the Manners is the writer of Gothic Charm School and while I may not be Gothic per say, I always love reading her monthly articles. They are witty and filled with good advice for any and every brand of person.

Deb’s Smitten Kitchen will make you jealous and hungry. And jealous. And hungry again.

Every Monday I stop by PostSecret to catch up on the world’s week of secrets. It’s one of my favorite stops and every time I find a secret that I really identify with, I save it and drop it into my Photobucket.

Leo writes for Zen Habits and while his blog is focused more on self help and organization, I always enjoy a visit. I like to read through his articles because they make me think about the way I have things in my life and ways that I might make them better. He’s always got a good idea either fresh off the press or hiding away in an archive.

Laurie aka Crazy Aunt Purl is always bursting with funny anecdotes, tips on knitting (I read although I have no idea what she’s talking about – it’s like reading Greek except that I can comprehend the words), and her misadventures in LA. She’s one of those cheery optimistic people, even when things aren’t going her way and so I always enjoy getting my dose of misguided laughter from her. It was on her rabid love of wine that I’ve tried some and I cannot agree with her sentiments on the beverage, but she’s still good people.

Amanda keeps Jingwen filled with entries ranging from Australian politics to fashion to her many vacations to just about anything. The girl is a riot and I always enjoy catching up on her life. Not many people I know can bamboozle their strict parents in thinking a two week trip to London by herself is a good idea. Major props, chica!

I always check in on Matt Logelin from Matt, Liz and Madeline to make sure they’re doing okay and because I love seeing all the cute little baby pictures. Matt can take some fantastic pictures and Madeline is getting so big! I have a love/fear relationship with his site because I worry that when Andy and I try for our second, we might have a similar fate.

Karyn Bosnak of Pretty in the City writes in one of those ditsy girlfriend type ways that I enjoy. She’s so funny and spunky and odd. I could totally see us going wandering around NYC sipping coffees and shooting the breeze. Despite the fact that I don’t live anywhere near there nor drink coffee. But she’s just that kind of person. If you follow along in her blog, you’ll see what I mean.

Cap of The Friggin’ Cat House is one of the wittiest grumpy bloggers ever, like the online real life version of Daria. She can find humor in even some of the darkest situations. Like being laid off. Who would have thought? Plus she has an adorable cat named Indy.

Christine’s crafty Crumpled Paper is always a joy to visit. She’s always posting up new things she’s made herself and eventually will get me to start knitting even though I have no idea how to do it. Plus she posts a cute little comic every Friday when she’s not bombarded by life stuff.

Heather’s Dooce is one of those websites I probably don’t even need to mention seeing as how the lady is famous. But still, I want to include her site because she is so amusing to follow and I’d hate for anyone to miss out. She puts the mom in mommyblogging.

Lisa’s Clusterfook hopefully will be a site maintained by her for a long time. Unfortunately, she’s battling her third round of cancer and things are looking dark at the moment. She is such a wonderful human being with very practical loving writing that helps to keep me from taking for granted my own blessed life. I continue to wish her the best on her battle.

Tanis of The Redneck Mommy sometimes makes me wonder why I read her stories at work because she can get… a bit NSFW. But the lady is damn hilarious. She’s not a one layer type of person either and has been known to make us blog readers cry when she shares personal stories and leaves us on cliff hangers. Read through her Journey and you’ll understand why were were stressed and awaiting news with bated breath.

RS’s Your Beard is Good is a collection of spazzy goodness. That’s really all there is to it.

And lastly, The Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton is always chuck full of adorable coyote pictures. Every time I visit, I want to go out in the country and play with Kayla even though she’s not a coyote. She’s still a wild and crazy dog though. Believe me, her pictures and occasional anecdotes will fill you with animal love too.

There are many more other excellent writers whom I follow, but as luck would have it, this Friday is proving to be a very busy one and my time is limited today. So if you’ve exhausted this list and are looking for more high quality entertainment, I implore you to scour my Surf page for some more. They’re all good or else I wouldn’t take the time to put them there. ;)

Much love and have an awesome weekend, everyone! It’s supposed to be in the 40s! I forget, is that warm enough to wear shorts? No?! That’s practically tropical compared to the weather we’ve been having recently.

Wahey, a new list of weblogs to follow! ;) I’m always on the lookout for more, because my existing list is dwindling fast with thousands of past bloggers dropping out of the blogosphere. :(

Yes, 40s is shorts weather! Haha, at home in Texas it’lll be in the 40s and my mom warns me to put on a coat before I go outside because it’s “really cold.” And then here in Boston I’m like “yay, t-shirt weather!”

And awesome list; I’ll have to surf through it later. Because Lord knows I need *more* ways to twitter away my time online.
