This morning I got a lot of things accomplished. Most of it was running around doing errands like reregistering to vote (YES!), getting a swanky new license (at 21 you get a special version), picking up stamps (mine have Frank Sinatra on them), and sending letters on their way. But I ALSO went to a local art store to fumble around in the sewing section in hopes of picking up a pattern and some fabric that I liked.
I saw a ton of patterns that I would like to get but realistically, I’m going to put that on a back burner until I get a new sewing machine seeing as how I cannot find my foot pedal! Granted my current sewing machine, that’s never been used, was only purchased for $9.99 but I still had planned on actually using it. Until I lost the foot pedal and all the various things that came with it that I stuffed in a box and now cannot find.
So, instead I went looking around at the painting supplies since I have a ton of acrylic paints at home and was in the mood to dabble. I ended up getting a sweet new Painting Notebook specifically designed (with linen sheets or summat) for acrylic painting and a few new paint brushes.
Uber excited, I made lunch which was a nice sauteed mushrooms and chicken and onions blend served with cheese wrapped in a tortilla (yummers!) and prepped the table for artage. Then I went to work. This is the result.
Here is my new book (happiness can really be bought for only $12.99 it seems):
And my first creation!
And a close up!
Yay. Just yay.
This particular piece is almost a polar opposite to the last one I painted back in 2005 which featured blues and greens. And was more of a wave. This reminds me more of honey and cranberries, although that wasn’t my “goal” when I started. It was more like, I have all these tiny pots of paint that aren’t dried out (all my blues and greens were since they haven’t been used since 2005 and they were the kiddie kind) so let’s make something magical.
Experimentation is where it’s at. Besides, painting is fun! And I much prefer painting on linen canvas than wood. Grooves, I care for you not. So now it’s probably painfully obvious why I want to go home instead of hang out at work – I want to paint!

That picture is AMAZING. You might consider trying to sell stuff on Etsy.
