a meme for me?

Because I am an enormous dunce, I didn’t realize that I’ve been tagged in a super cool meme. And unlike a huge portion of blogland, I love meme’s. Especially ones where you get to talk about yourself at length because someone else told you to. So all the blame can be laid at Kristie’s feet (her list). *shifty eyes* Incidentally, she was tagged by yet a different Erin. We are taking over the internet. Huzzah!

May I proudly present 25 Things About Me

  1. While I love rings and have a good number of ones that I like, I rarely wear them because I don’t like the way they feel. I tend to slip them off unconsciously and lose them. So if I’m wearing one and playing with it absentmindedly, let me know so I don’t lose it!
  2. I used to catch baby turtles from a lake growing up. My sisters and I did it for entertainment in the summer, wading out and plucking them from the water. There was a huge cement pipe that stuck out of the lake like a diving board and we’d put them in a line on there after catching them so they could race out back to the water.
  3. I stopped doing that after I saw a snake in the water. Snakes freak me out. In the zoo, I will race past those exhibits or totally avoid them if they are in a house of their own.
  4. When I was younger, I fell in love with Abraham Lincoln. I knew he was dead, not to mention married, but this wasn’t a big problem to me for some reason. I still think he is awesome.
  5. I’m also a war buff. I’m not sure why I enjoy reading about them as much as I do, especially since I hate hearing about humans dying, but I find it fascinating what people think is worth risking their lives for. The civil war intrigues me especially because a lot of times they were fighting against brothers, friends.
  6. I may be married, but I hate a loathing for the typical wifey stereotypes. So I won’t drive a van or stay at home and clean all day. Can’t do it. I am more than just some guys wife. I am a partner, an equal.
  7. I never realized I turned into a feminist until I was posting at a message board about a hot button topic and totally eviscerated some douchenozzle about women’s rights to health care. He came back and called me a feminist, among other things, but I still won that argument so whatever. I’ll wear that badge.
  8. I am strongly pro-choice. And I think God is too.
  9. I’ve always enjoyed having friends in different social circles than myself. It’s one thing I always try to maintain, a nice collection of smart people with different perspectives. So even though I occasionally get ranty about important topics, I do care about your opinions, even if they differ from mine.
  10. I’ve killed cactus before. Two, actually. One I revived (ZOMBIE CACTUS), and the other got buried in the trash can. It full on died. Broke off from the roots even. I think my cat played a part in this.
  11. I’m a part of many different fandoms. I never really realize until I look at photos from popular conventions and recognize who everyone is dressed up as.
  12. It bothers me when people write without adjectives. They are your friends! Also, I have mad love for underutilized verbs.
  13. I’ve never played World of Warcraft before because I’m pretty sure I would love it. I do play on Runescape, however, which is supposed to be the baby brother to WoW.
  14. I like to people watch while people are driving their cars. Yes, I’m watching you. Quit picking your nose.
  15. I love when people merge together properly on offramps and onramps on the highway. It makes me really happy and I don’t really understand why.
  16. I also love when you drive long distance and have one or two cars that you keep pace with. It’s like we’re friends. That sounds totally creepy. But it’s more like I keep track of people I drive with, especially late at night. I always wave when we go our separate ways.
  17. Reading Post Secret is one of my favorite Monday morning rituals after I get my work done. I tried to go to two different events when they were nearby but I ended up having class both nights. What are the odds? Bah!
  18. I’m a big fan of babywearing and so if I see someone out and about wearing their baby, they are getting a high five. I have a wrap from Sleepywrap that I love and tell everyone about. I’m sure I’ve posted about it about a million times on here.
  19. It irritates me when people are like, oh I’m part Cherokee (insert other nationality here). So I’ll ask who it was in their family and they never know. If you don’t know the name or their relationship with you, it doesn’t count. You are a moron. You are American, be proud. This really bothers me around St Patricks day. No, you are NOT Irish! STFU.
  20. The idea of not existing terrifies me. So even though my practical nature doesn’t want to spend money on a gravestone for myself, the idea of being cremated and then forgotten really bothers me.
  21. Breaking preconceived notions brings me a lot of joy.
  22. It’s very rare for me to back down from a challenge. If someone I know has done something I previously thought I could not do, I won’t stop until I’ve done it too.
  23. I learned how to knit because I was worried I’d be on bedrest and bored out of my mind waiting for someone to give me a new book after I finished one. I read really fast. Except for legalese or textbooks.
  24. I randomly have a southern accent. Most of the time I don’t, but sometimes it happens. I enjoy using different accents at times just to mess with people.
  25. I used to do U-turns all the time when I lived in VA. It was like a way of life back there. If you do a u-turn here, you will get honked at. So sometimes I do a few for the hell of it.

I have done this meme before, just in case you are still looking for something to read.

PIKACHU, I CHOOSE YOU! And these people too… Cap, Caz, Christine, Dominique, Jem, Katili, Melissa, Michelle, Sam, Sarah, Vakker

I stopped tagging people because I’m lazy, and 25 seemed a tall order to fill, but if you decide to do this, let me know. Because I love reading these things. And yes, I did have to organize the unsuspecting souls tagged in alphabetical order. Why do you ask?

oh god, a meme… not sure i can take that :) i’ve been trying to steer my blog a bit away from being super personal, so i might have to decline this time. but i am super honored that i was tagged.

No worries. ;) Although basing it on your love of crafts and your Fluffyland business would be interesting to read about as well.

I loved this list! You’re totally fascinating. =)

BTW, I don’t know if you’ve seen my reply to your comment, but if not I apologize for not letting you know about the tag! I thought I went around and let everyone know, but I guess I skipped over you somehow. =( Oopsies…

Anyway, I can relate to so many things here.
#5 – I’m totally into American history, but especially the Civil War period. I try to picture myself living in this time and I’m almost brought to tears thinking about the way the country was completely divided and how it left many families irreparably broken as well.
#13 – I’m scared to start playing it too for this very reason! I know so many people who completely build their lives around what happens in this game. O_o
#17 – Love love love PostSecret. Some of the artwork on the post cards is truly amazing.
#20 – I try to keep death and dying the furthest thing from my mind. I know it’s inevitable. I just can’t bear to think about what will happen to me or my loved ones once we pass. I try to have faith, but I find myself doubting my beliefs a lot and it scares me. For now, I’ll pretend to live forever and see how far that gets me.

Thanks for sharing your list. =)

#20 – Yeah, thats a big fear I’ve had ever since my son was born. It scares the crap out of me to know that my life is over a fourth of the way over (that is if I live till 100). That time went so fast so I don’t even want to think about how fast the rest of the time will fly now that I’m married, have a son and am actually doing something with my life. Creepy to think about.

    16. If they ever wave back, it’s me…
    20. Organ donation. Plus, you know genetic material of yours was already passed on.

21, 22, 24 are me. :D My accent is a mess after living in Ireland and spending too much time talking to a southerner…

    25. No u-turns here. I forbid you. You’d die. (Really.)
