v for victory

I had steak for breakfast.

It was awesome. Granted, it was leftovers from last nights dinner but the idea is still the same. Steak with green beans and mushrooms. Yum! An awesome start to a birthday.

Andy is determined to buy me something for my birthday but keeps getting irritated when I buy things that I’ve told him I want. For months I’d told him that I wanted the Berlitz Self Primer for Italian and then I bought it a few weeks ago. Along with a battery charger, two maxi dresses (a black one and a purple one since the teal was sold out of my size)(I don’t like wearing them in public though because my boobs are like HELLO LOOK AT US and try to greet strangers)(the dresses are totally comfortable though and I love to lounge around the house in them), some little moleskin notebooks I wanted for my language practice, and the spanish book I’ve been looking at. But these are all items I’ve been wanting for quite some time. I was just waiting on the funds.

The only two things I’ve wanted that I haven’t bought for myself (I ran out of spending money) were a beginners henna set and a proper coin skirt for my bellydancing (although I have been tempted to add a yoga mat to my list of things that I’d like). I’ve got my fingers crossed that he’s thinking of getting one of those for me. Likely he’s thought up something completely different though.

Hrm. I still haven’t stitched together my skirt but I am totally going to do it tonight. I think. =) And I plan on tea dying it since I gave away the tie dye mix we had to a friend for a birthday gift (worst idea ever since I’m pretty sure they threw it away). Tea dye info! Tie dye info!

Also, many thanks to my lovely parents for bringing me into this world twenty two years ago. I like to think you both did a good job. ;) You know, aside from all the waterboarding. But you can’t even tell now. *twitches*

Kip and I went out today and I found this mug for only $1.60 at a thrift mall. I snatched it up instantly. I mean, just look at that smile. I feel like recently I’ve needed to see something as chipper as that in the morning. It’ll be perfect for tea.

Cute t’s for babeh, maybe: fox, moon, angel wings, tree of life

ahh wednesday

I put on my blue toenail polish again this morning. I have to do the second coat when I get home. I seriously love this color.

Also this morning, I commandeered one of our old white sheets and cut it to wrap skirt size pieces. Hopefully tonight I can figure out how to sew it together properly. It shouldn’t be too difficult but on the pattern it specifies making holes for where the band goes through but then when you sew the skirt to the waistband, there is no spot where you can see the holes. I’m so lost. We’ll see how it goes.

I just learned what basting was. When I read it on the instructions the only thing I could think of is when you cook a turkey, but I’ve never done that either. Apparently though its where you stitch something then take it back out and restitch it later. I figure I’ll just not baste and leave the space open until its time to resew. Then if that doesn’t work, I’ll know for next time.

And let’s have a moment of silence for the documented evidence of the ONE rose bush of mine that was actually growing and sprouting leaves when Andy ran over it with the lawnmower a few weeks ago.

Thank goodness I have a little spending money to buy some bricks to line out the rest of my flower beds because if he mows over my marigolds, well… I just don’t want to think about that. I might not be able to take responsibility for my actions. Especially since they’ll be fueled with extra progesterone.

My only current gardening victory. But it’s a sweet one.

I miss using my Nikon. Andy has it with him right now and I have no idea how to use manual focus on my point and shoot Kodak. I don’t think it’s possible. Urgh. But still, pretteh flowers.

About a week ago I successfully used a pattern, cut out a dress, sewed a dress and that was as far as I was able to get since Jasbaz point blank REFUSED to put it on. Talk about a letdown. I’ve been planning this moment since before her birth (making her an article of clothing and having her wear it, even for a few seconds) and I must say that it did not go how I planned. But it was hilarious in a disappointing way.

I’ve gotten wise to her though. I know exactly how I’m going to get her to wear the next item I make. I’m going to make sure Bella or Dora is on it. FYI: Bella is her name for Cinderella, one of her favorite princesses despite the fact that she’s never seen the movie. She loves Ariel too, but I think we could use more Bella in our life.

In looking at our local fabric stores, most do not have proper cotton fabric featuring princesses, which is probably for the best. I figure that if I can find an inexpensive sheet set, then I can improvise from there.
