This is what I imagine my brain looks like right now. Void of most fluff and with lots of pointy objects sticking all over the place.
Today is a day for mindless play, I think.
Yesterday I tried my hand at a cookie cake recipe that Prin linked to a few days ago, one of Emeril’s creations. We had just finished watching Wall-E, well I napped through it, and upon waking up I felt like cooking. So I grabbed the printed copy that I had in my purse and set to work.
That is a deliciously yummy cookie cake. It actually tastes like cake. And cookie at the same time.
It was exciting, trying something like that off a whim and having it turn out awesome. I was worried that the stove would burn it. Or that instead of putting in a cup of sugar, I’d accidentally use a cup of salt. No such accidents!
I also set up another of my projects for the year. I had bought some organic potting soil this past weekend and I filled up one of my pots with it, set it in the window in one of my large cake pans so that the water could drain and since I couldn’t find anything else to hold it, and then put in some amaryllis seeds that I’ve had in my wallet for several months. I’m not even sure if they will bloom or not since they’ve been in a baggie for several months… but it’s worth a shot.
One of the good things about using the cake pan as the drain water catcher is that Sunny can’t sleep on it and hopefully won’t be able to tip over the pot. I guess we’ll see. Gardening ghetto style. Whoo!
There are also a lot of leftover seeds from all the times that Andy has tried to grow a garden, we’ve got several varieties of gourd seeds, watermelons, and some basil. I’ve got to wait until I get some form of container for them though.
The same day I went out and bought the potting soil, I got Sunny one of those scratching pads with a little reservoir for catnip. He hasn’t been the same since. That cat LOVES some catnip. It was hilarious to watch him flip the scratcher over and rub himself all over it. He was oblivious even to Jasbaz and Kayla who he usually tends to be wary of. I need to find a way to grow some catnip.
I’ve gotten started on my secret awesome project that I really want to talk about but can’t. =X People who will be receiving it as a gift read my site. Grah. I got a lot accomplished and I’m really excited about it, though! I just have… two more years to go. Blah.
Also, there is another potential development if it doesn’t turn out to be a scam… We’ll find out Wednesday. It’s one of those ‘too good to be true but it looks legit so what is the catch’ type of situations. Guess we’ll see. I’d love for it to be legit though.
I’d shout from the hills.
Those damn Christmas cards are still sitting on our buffet at home. It’s not like I don’t even have stamps, I do! I just forget to put them on them and drop them off at the Post Office.
I need to get a passport.
I just finished printing out the W2′s so when Andy gets his we can get our taxes done. And then apply for the FAFSA together. And then pay off some medical debt! Yum.
And based off a search I just did on Orbitz, I could get round trip tickets to Barcelona for under $2k! Too bad we already have vacation plans for this year… Maybe the next year. But definitely before 2012. Just in case the world does come to an end.
Oh and Orbitz has some really good deals on Mediterranean cruises that would be fun. For under a grand we could go on a five night cruise from Barcelona to Cannes, Livorgno (by Florence and Pisa), Civitavecchia (near Rome), and back.
So for 5k, I could fulfill multiple personal goals and go on the trip of a lifetime. Mreh!
In honor of resolutions that everyone and their mother, brother, sisters, and twousin are making… I updated my Aspire page which is my yearly collection of things to do to make myself happy. I’m a list maker and if I can’t see it, I won’t do it, or remember to do it. So instead of making a post listing a bunch of things that will get buried and then forgotten, I have my aspire page to keep me on my toes.
I updated it with a ton of new developments in honor of the New Year and I’m proud to say that since I created it in August, I’ve accomplished 28 things! In four months! That is a mood booster, let me just say. Granted a lot of them were small things and needed to happen anyway, but having a list always makes things easier for me to remember and check up on.
I also updated my Book Prey page and I read a silly total of 02 books from my list in 2008, but it is a list pulled from the Internet of recommended reading. I’ve read an immense load of books, they just weren’t on it. For example, the entire Interview with a Vampire saga. That’s 10 books right there. But this year, I can see things going differently and I plan on getting through a more substantial amount of it.
Otherwise, I plan on getting started on a lot of new projects that I now have the materials for. I just think it’s silly that people get so wrapped up in learning new things or changing their life only once a year. Grasp each day, prawns! Each one!
We packed up the Christmas tree yesterday and I think Sunny was very displeased to see it go. He’s really enjoyed trying to knock the beads off, jumping at the ornaments, and attempting to climb in the tree.
I think the funniest thing is that anytime he’ll try to crawl up there, Jasbaz will throw a fit. She’ll start crying, pointing at the tree and yelling “CAT! CAT!”. She really was not fond of him trying to get in the tree. Then Kayla will come running from wherever she is in the house to help enforce and before long all three of them will be running, Looney Tunes style, one after the other in circles around the house until Sunny finds a proper hiding spot that Jas doesn’t notice.
Ten minutes later, he’ll be back by the sofa, plotting how to get in the tree. Then it all starts again. I’ll miss that tree. Gave them a lot of exercise.
I still need to pack away our new Nutcracker (he’s a pirate) and the Christmas stockings but I was distracted by attempting to jam our Christmas tree back into it’s box. Andy and I had to tag team it and I’m pretty sure that we’ll have to get a new box for it next year, or else store it all fluffed out in the attic.
In other developments, Jas went potty in her potty yesterday! That was exciting. She kept getting up and I’d wipe her, then she’d change her mind and point to the potty while saying “Potty!”, then sit back down and add some more. It was funny but after a while Andy and I were wondering how much more she was going to go. Operation Upgrade to Underwear is going smoothly! Granted, she’s still using pull ups but soon I think she’ll be ready for new undies of her own.
And she can also crawl out of her crib now. Yesterday we had to keep putting her back in so she could take her nap, but after three times of returning her (each, mind you, so a total of six) we just let her go play. Gone are the days where the crib was an effective cage. =(
We both agreed that we need to get some of those door handle covers for her bedroom so that at least during her nap times she’ll not be able to escape her room.
But two big developmental changes on New Years day! Who knows what else will be in store for us. =D
